Reporters On The Rail

The Morgan Horse has a team of six reporters covering the Grand National and World Championship show.  Tony Lee, Ryan Ulrich, Abbie Felton, Debbie Donohoe, Travis Fillipek and Leslie Plummer.  Make sure to see Tony, Ryan or Abbie to book your ads for the Grand National issue.  Advertising deadline is October 23rd.

Notes

Make sure to wish Tony Lee a very happy birthday today!

Tim Morrell of Moreland Farm was spotted out on the town on Friday night with his family.  Though he wasn’t dancing, he looked every bit the part of the Oklahoma cowboy.

Harry and the Lashwhips put on a fabulous performance last night at the Welcome to Oklahoma party in Ring 1.  A large crowd turned out for the party, which featured a catered dinner, wine and beer, and of course dancing to the Morgan breed’s favorite, most popular band.

Club Rodeo’s bull riding got rough last night with one cowboy being taken away from the ring unconscious after being stepped on by a bull.  The next bull riding takes place on Friday.

Dressage continues today in Show Arena 9, with the Musical Freestyle at the end of the session.  Stop by Show Arena 6 after 7pm to see the Carriage Pleasure Driving Working division.

Youth Judging Contest Horses Needed

The Youth Horse Judging Contest is still in need of horses to use Friday morning, October 13.  There will be over 100 youth from College, FFA, 4-H and AMHA Youth teams across the country. We want to offer them a great contest filled with a nice variety of classes.  This is a great promotional opportunity for the Morgan breed, as well as a fantastic tool to help future judges develop their skills.  We are still looking for horses to fill the following classes: Mares In Hand, Pleasure/Classic Pleasure Driving, English/Classic Pleasure Saddle, or Equitation. If you are willing to help us out and enter your Morgan please see: Joyce Ackerman Burroughs or Erica Richard. Joyce can be reached at : 716.560.7883.

Sign Up For The Youth Contest

There’s still time to sign up for the Youth Horse Judging Contest. Take a chance at picking the winners, and you may be a winner yourself!  A small $5 entry fee could result in you receiving a variety of awards that may include World Championship plaques, ribbons, AMHA retail items and even cash!  Registration and an educational clinic will take place Thursday at 5:00pm in Show Arena 6. The contest begins Friday morning; AMHAY participants need to be ready to go at 9:10am.  AMHAY participants will judge two in-hand classes and two performance classes of four entries each.  For more information please see Joyce Ackerman Burroughs or stop by the registration desk on Thursday.
